Jay turned 6 this March. He is such an amazing boy. The picture in the top left is with his Kindergarten teacher Mrs. Schisler. For his birthday, we got him a bike and he got to help put it together. His favorite part of that was putting it together!
For his party at school, he really wanted firetruck treats. So, I took rice krispies and coated them in red frosting with m&m's for windows and lights, red licorice for the siren on top, black licorice for the ladders, oreos for the wheels, and a ring on top for each child. They turned out a lot better than I dared hope and he was so proud!

For his party, he wanted a fireman party, again. All he kept asking for was turn out gear and fireman tools, but he had most everything there was for a fireman. So he asked for an extinguisher. Where would you ever find a play fire extinguisher?!? So I made one. It is a large soda bottle with a noise tube taped/glued to the top. I opted for fun flame duct tape to cover it and the nozzle is a water balloon filler nozzle. His face here looks a little unhappy, but he was thrilled and surprised. Made Mom happy.
Jay has been in love with all things fireman/firetruck for ever. A few snapshots through the years.
2006 - Age 1 2006 - Age 1
2009
2010 - Trip to the firestation Grandpa Young arranged.
It earned Grandpa instead hero status. Jay came home and told me, "Grandpa knows firemen and works for the fire department!!!"
Fall 2010 - We were walking around some town in Massachusetts and the doors were open on a firestation. Jay was beyond excited and found a fireman there who gave him an impromptu tour.
2010 - Halloween
March 2011 - Even when his birthday theme isn't firemen, he wears his turnout gear!

We sure LOVE this kid!
